On Friday, February 15th, 2019, the Assunto family and members of “The Assunto Dukes, a Dixieland Tribute” were special guests of curator David Kunian at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, to view the entire compilation of Dukes of Dixieland history that they have acquired.

The archives include numerous photographs, music and articles that have been collected over 40 plus years. The highlight of the visit was Freddie Assunto’s trombone, that was donated by Frank Assunto less than two weeks after Freddie passed away in 1966 at age 36.

Great thanks to the entire staff at The New Orleans Jazz Museum for recognizing the significance of The Assunto Family and The Original Dukes of Dixieland.
